Rancilio is an Italian commercial espresso manufacturer; its Home Line exists because the café machines came first. The Silvia has been in production for decades in essentially the same form — a 0.3 litre brass boiler, a brass group and a commercial 58 mm portafilter in a 14 kg stainless box with no electronics to speak of. The Silvia Pro X adds what the original deliberately lacks: two boilers so brewing and steaming are independent, and two PID controllers to hold each at temperature. Both are single-group machines built from commercial parts, which is why they outlast most kitchen appliances.
