The brewing unit is blocked in work position. The brew group is dirty or not well lubricated, or the brew group is not positioned correctly.

What to do

1. Switch off the machine. Remove the brew group and clean it thoroughly (see the 'Cleaning the Brew Group' chapter of the manual).
2. Remove the brew group and reinsert it, ensuring the brew group is in the correct position before inserting it.
3. On Anima models: close the service door, turn the machine off and back on, wait for the 'Ready for brewing' signal and then remove the brew group.
4. If the code persists, contact an authorised Gaggia service centre — a drive motor fault is not user-serviceable.
